New Delhi: On Sunday, US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, had a noteworthy meeting with Shubhanshu Shukla, making headlines as the first Indian astronaut to journey to the International Space Station. Ambassador Gor emphasized that Shukla’s journey highlights the strong partnership in space between the United States and India.

“Had a great time meeting Shubhanshu Shukla, the first Indian astronaut to visit the International Space Station. His experiences, from training at NASA to leading Axiom Space’s Ax-4 mission, are a perfect example of US-India cooperation in space,” Gor shared on the social media platform X.

During the same week, he also connected with Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar in Bengaluru. Gor pointed out that the relationship between the US and India is becoming increasingly dynamic in Karnataka, particularly in the fields of space technology, artificial intelligence, and trade. “It was fantastic to meet with Chief Minister DK Shivakumar again. US-India partnerships are thriving in Karnataka, especially in space, AI, and trade. Initiatives like Pax Silica and TRUST are creating great opportunities for both American and Indian businesses,” he noted on X.

In a related development, last week, Ambassador Gor praised the collaboration between companies such as Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Tata Advanced Systems Limited. He referred to their joint effort to produce the Javelin All Up Round (AUR) as a significant milestone in US-India defense relations. “This cooperation marks major progress for the defense partnership between the US and India. It will provide fresh opportunities for American firms while bolstering India’s manufacturing capabilities,” he explained.

Lockheed Martin announced that Tata Advanced Systems Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Javelin Joint Venture, which consists of Raytheon and Lockheed Martin. This partnership designates Tata Advanced Systems as the main partner for co-production efforts within India, based on a thorough evaluation of various companies and their capabilities.
