Imtiaz Ali Supports Diljit Dosanjh Amid Controversy Surrounding Sardaar Ji 3

In a show of solidarity, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has spoken out in favor of Diljit Dosanjh, who is facing criticism over his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3. The backlash stems from the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the lead role, which has led the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) to issue a statement condemning both the actor and the production team.

Imtiaz, who previously collaborated with Diljit on the Netflix project Amar Singh Chamkila, shared his thoughts in an interview with NDTV. He expressed his admiration for Diljit, stating that the actor is deeply patriotic and truly values his connection to India. "Diljit is filled with the spirit of patriotism," he said, noting that the star proudly displays the Indian flag during his concerts.

The director emphasized that Diljit’s love for his country is not an act. "He is not someone who pretends. He shows his genuine love for India, saying ‘Main hoon Punjab’ (I am Punjab) at the end of his shows," Imtiaz remarked.

Addressing the controversy surrounding the film’s casting, Imtiaz clarified that such decisions are not solely up to the actor. He added, "While I am unaware of the specifics, I can assure you that Diljit has immense love for his country. Those who know him can see the truth in his feelings."

The situation escalated when FWICE called for action against Diljit, criticizing the film for collaborating with a Pakistani actress amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. This has amplified scrutiny around Sardaar Ji 3, though it is reported that the film was completed before the recent tensions escalated.

Imtiaz Ali’s comments provide a different perspective on the conversation, highlighting his personal experiences with Diljit and the actor’s continuous display of national pride during public events. As this story unfolds, the film industry and fans eagerly await further developments regarding the film’s release and its reception.
