Disturbing Deportation Incident at Newark Airport Goes Viral

A distressing video from Newark Liberty International Airport has caught the attention of many on social media. The footage shows an Indian student being handcuffed and forcibly taken away by U.S. immigration officials. Indian-American entrepreneur Kunal Jain shared the video, describing the treatment as inhumane and urging the Indian Embassy in the U.S. to take action.

According to Jain, who witnessed the incident, the young man seemed highly distressed and was crying as he was restrained by officers. This event has led to outrage among the Indian community, who feel the treatment was excessive and unjust.

In his remarks on social media, Jain expressed his heartbreak over the situation, emphasizing that the student came to pursue his dreams, not to cause any trouble. He described feeling helpless watching the incident unfold.

Concerns Over Treatment of Students

Jain further revealed that such deportations of Indian nationals have been happening regularly in recent weeks, especially among students who struggle to clearly explain their purpose for being in the U.S.

He highlighted that many students arrive with valid visas but face issues when questioned by immigration officials. "These young people get on a flight in the morning, but if they can’t provide a clear answer at immigration, they are sent back that same evening, treated like criminals," he stated. Jain estimated that 3 to 4 cases like this occur every day.

Rising Deportation Numbers Raise Alarms

According to a recent announcement from India’s Ministry of External Affairs, over 1,000 Indian nationals have either returned voluntarily or been deported from the U.S. since the start of the year. This surge in deportations comes amid a stricter immigration agenda led by U.S. authorities.

In a notable incident earlier this year, more than 100 Indian nationals were deported on a military flight, with some reports indicating they were shackled during the process. Overall, U.S. officials are said to have identified about 18,000 Indian nationals who may have entered the country illegally. This rising trend has sparked discussions within India and among the Indian community, calling for better diplomatic support and protections for Indian citizens abroad.
