Tragic Death of Indian Man in Philadelphia

Anshul Kuncha, a 28-year-old man from India, was shot and killed while delivering pizza in Philadelphia on the night of May 5, 2026. Reports indicate that he was ambushed by unknown attackers who lured him with a fake pizza order.

Details of the Incident

Anshul, originally from Telangana, had moved to the United States four years ago for better job opportunities. To support his family, he worked as a pizza delivery driver during the weekends in addition to his main job at a multinational corporation. His family shared that this was a way for him to earn some extra income.

His sister, Tanvi, reported that Anshul was shot in the head and suggested that he was targeted intentionally. She mentioned that the assailants didn’t rob him after the shooting, which makes them believe it was a premeditated act rather than a robbery. Previously, he had been robbed, where he lost his gold chain, wallet, and phone.

According to Tanvi, Anshul was ambushed by two masked individuals in a deserted area. She described how one of them shot him several times, stating, “It was a setup; he was lured into a trap.” She expressed deep sorrow and confusion about why anyone would want to harm him, claiming, “They didn’t take anything from him. They just left him to die.”

Tanvi also revealed that Anshul had not originally intended to move to the U.S. He chose to go when family expectations weighed heavily on him. She now warns other families considering sending their children abroad, saying, “Look what happened to my brother. He ended up dead on a dark street.”

Who Was Anshul Kuncha?

Anshul hailed from Hyderabad and was a professional in data analytics. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in India and later a Master’s in Business Analytics from LeBow College of Business in Pennsylvania in 2022.

At the time of his death, Anshul was working as a Data Validation Analyst at DataBank IMX and Validation Associates LLC. He also had experience as a Senior Product Compliance Analyst at Amazon in India and interned at Jio Platforms Ltd.

The tragic incident took place in the early hours of June 5, 2026. The Philadelphia Police Department is currently offering a $20,000 reward for any information leading to the suspects involved in this horrific crime. Anshul was discovered injured at the Raymond Rosen Homes housing complex on Edgley Street.

The community mourns the loss of a promising young man, and his family is left searching for answers.
