Podcasts Are Changing the Celebrity Game
Podcasts have become a major new way for celebrities to connect with their fans. What started as a backup option during the COVID-19 lockdowns has grown into a powerful tool for shaping public image. With traditional media focused on the pandemic in 2020 and TV shows going dark, podcasts and YouTube shows offered celebrities a chance to stay in the spotlight and engage with their audiences directly.
In a recent chat with Hindi Rush, actor Sooraj Pancholi shared insights about the rising trend of paying for podcast appearances. He noted, "I’ve heard that some actors charge around Rs 30 lakh to join a podcast. Is that true? I’m here for free, but maybe I should ask for Rs 30,000," he joked.
Pancholi emphasized that it’s the podcasters who now have the upper hand. "Yes, it’s true. Some podcasters with strong followings do ask for Rs 30 lakh to feature someone. I’ve even received such offers," he revealed. He added, "It makes sense, as they bring a large audience. They’ve worked really hard to grow their platform, so why not?”
On the professional front, Sooraj is currently featured in the historical action film Kesari Veer, directed by Prince Dhiman. The film stars well-known actors like Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, and Akanksha Sharma.
As the landscape of celebrity promotion continues to evolve, it’s clear that podcasts are here to stay, providing stars a unique and influential way to remain relevant in today’s digital world.
