Cristiano Ronaldo Suggests Possible Departure from Al Nassr as Club World Cup Approaches

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Time at Al Nassr May Be Coming to an End

Cristiano Ronaldo might have just played his last match for Al Nassr, with signs pointing to the football star getting ready for a new adventure. After scoring during Al Nassr’s last Saudi Pro League game of the season, the 40-year-old shared a thoughtful message on social media: “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”

Although Ronaldo scored his 25th goal of the season, Al Nassr lost 3-2 to Al Fateh, finishing third in the league. This recent post has sparked a flurry of speculation about his next move, especially since his current contract expires on June 30.

Discussions about possibly extending his time at Al Nassr seem to have stalled, especially since the club has not won any major trophies during his two-and-a-half-year stay. Despite Ronaldo’s impressive record of 99 goals in 111 games, Al Nassr finished 13 points behind league champions Al-Ittihad this season.

Rumors are further fueled by FIFA president Gianni Infantino’s recent comments about Ronaldo potentially playing in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup this summer in the United States. Al Nassr has not qualified for the tournament, but there is a chance Ronaldo could join another team if he makes a transfer before the event kicks off in June.

Infantino, during a fun chat with YouTuber IShowSpeed, noted that Lionel Messi is expected to play in the first match for Inter Miami. He added, “And Ronaldo might play for one of the teams as well at the Club World Cup. There are discussions with some clubs, so if any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup… who knows, who knows.”

FIFA has also created a special transfer window from June 1 to June 10 to help clubs finalize deals in time for the tournament, giving Ronaldo a unique opportunity to make his next move while also appearing on a global stage.

At this point, it’s unclear where Ronaldo will land next. There are whispers of him possibly joining Major League Soccer to reunite with former rival Lionel Messi, helping to grow soccer’s popularity in North America. Some fans are also hoping for a nostalgic return to his first club, Sporting CP in Portugal, where they would love to see his career come full circle.

Before making any official announcements, Ronaldo is focusing on his international responsibilities. He will join the Portugal national team for the UEFA Nations League semifinal against Germany on June 4, which could also provide an opportunity for updates on his club future.
