Iron Area Health Foundation Awards Scholarships to Local Students

IRON RIVER — This month, the Iron Area Health Foundation announced the recipients of scholarships aimed at supporting high school seniors continuing their education in health-related fields. The Foundation presented grants of $500 to students from West Iron County High School and Forest Park High School.

On May 7, six promising seniors from West Iron County received these scholarships. The awardees included Jackson Strom, who plans to study biology at the University of Michigan; Sidney Storti, aspiring to study veterinary medicine at Northern Michigan University; and Kaitlyn Smith, who will focus on pre-medicine at Northern Michigan University. Eiley Meske is set to study human biology/pre-medicine at Michigan Technological University, while Gracyn Melstrom and Sierra Hooper will pursue nursing at Bellin College and Northwest Wisconsin Technical College, respectively.

Additionally, three seniors from Forest Park were recognized during the school’s scholarship ceremony. Ellie Ayers intends to study nursing at Bellin College; Skylar VanOss plans to pursue human biology in the pre-optometry program at Michigan State University; and Lilly Post is aiming for a degree in allied health science through the radiation therapist program at Carthage College.
