Sunny Deol Set to Make OTT Debut on Netflix with Action Film

Sunny Deol is gearing up to make his debut on Netflix with an exciting action film that marks a notable point in his impressive four-decade-long career.

According to recent reports, the untitled movie will be directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, known for his work on We Are Family. Filming is slated to start in July 2025.

This project is an adaptation of the 2007 Hollywood thriller Death Sentence, which featured Kevin Bacon. Writer-director Suparn Verma is reimagining the story for Indian viewers. While there were earlier discussions about Verma producing the film, it has now been clarified that he will serve as the screenwriter. The movie is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix, targeting a release in 2026.

A source close to the project shared insights, stating, "Sunny Deol is stepping into the world of Netflix with this high-octane action film, directed by Siddharth P Malhotra. The film is based on Death Sentence, reworked in Hindi by Suparn Verma."

The source further revealed that Deol has committed significant shooting days for this film and is receiving a substantial fee for his role as the lead.

Currently, Sunny Deol is busy with various projects. According to insiders, he will be filming Border 2 until the end of June, followed by his work on Lahore: 1947. He will then partake in a short schedule for Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, where he portrays Hanuman.

Once these commitments are completed, Sunny will focus on the Netflix original. "He is also in talks for several other films expected to commence later this year, not to mention Gadar 3, which is still in the writing phase. Sunny Deol has a lot on his plate," the source added.

On his recent filmography, Sunny Deol was last seen in Jaat, directed by Gopichand Malineni, which had a moderate performance at the box office.
