Sunny Deol’s new film Jaat has been making headlines not just for its exciting action scenes and patriotic themes, but also due to a controversial moment that has sparked criticism from the Christian community. The scene in question features the film’s antagonist, portrayed by Randeep Hooda, in a church setting. Many viewers felt that this portrayal was offensive and disrespected their religious beliefs.
In light of the backlash, the filmmakers have taken quick action to resolve the situation. They released an official statement announcing that the contentious scene has been removed from all versions of the film. The team expressed their regret, saying, “We did not intend to hurt anyone’s religious sentiments. We apologize to anyone who felt offended and have acted immediately to delete the scene.”
The controversy gained momentum on social media shortly after the film’s release, with many voices from the Christian community calling for a public apology and further action.
Directed by Gopichandh Malineni, Jaat also features actors like Saiyami Kher, Viineet Kumar Siingh, and Regena Cassandra. Despite the controversy, the film has performed remarkably well at the box office, grossing over Rs. 60 crores in its extended first week.
