Excel Entertainment is all set to make history with the upcoming action thriller Ground Zero, featuring Emraan Hashmi. This film will notably be the first in nearly 40 years to host a red-carpet premiere in Srinagar, Kashmir. The event is scheduled for April 18, just a week before the movie hits theaters across the country on April 25, 2025.

The premiere in Srinagar carries a deep meaning. It will honor the soldiers and officers of the Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) in the area. The filmmakers want to share the film first with those who protect the nation, reflecting the patriotic spirit at the heart of the movie.

Directed by Tejas Deoskar and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, Ground Zero shines a light on real events. Emraan Hashmi plays the role of BSF Commandant Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, who led a major operation against Ghazi Baba, a senior commander of the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist group. This operation is recognized as one of the BSF’s most significant missions in the last half-century.

The film has been shot entirely in Kashmir, showcasing the area’s stunning landscape and military presence. It delves into a crucial part of Indian history that many might not know—focusing on the operation that targeted Ghazi Baba, who was said to be involved in planning the 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament.

The trailer has caught a lot of attention, with viewers responding positively to its themes and approach. Following its release, the filmmakers have unveiled several posters to further heighten anticipation for the movie.

Having a red-carpet premiere in Srinagar is not just about promoting the film; it acknowledges the region where the story unfolds and was filmed. This event is particularly special as it marks a return of Bollywood premieres to Kashmir after a long break of 38 years.

Ground Zero is co-produced by Kassim Jagmagia, Vishal Ramchandani, Sundeep C. Sidhwani, Arhan Bagati, Talisman Films, Abhishek Kumar, and Nishikant Roy. Fans can look forward to its release in cinemas across India on April 25, 2025.
