Star Australian cricketer Travis Head recently shared his thoughts on his mixed feelings towards Indian fans, highlighting his experiences during crucial matches where he has often led his team to victory. Head has made a mark in recent high-stakes games, notably during the World Test Championship 2023 final and the ODI World Cup 2023 final, showcasing his talent as a key player.
He distinguished himself in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 as the highest run-scorer and significantly contributed to Australia’s 3-1 series victory. Reflecting on his relationship with Indian supporters, Head expressed that although he has caused some heartbreak for them over the past two years, he has enjoyed his performances and the playful banter on social media.
In his conversation with the media, Head acknowledged the passion of Indian fans, saying, “I understand that India has a massive following. I’ve been lucky to perform well in certain matches, but I don’t let it get to me. I find much of the chatter from fans quite amusing. It doesn’t motivate me any longer; I just want to enjoy the game and play well.”
He also noted that the competition has gone both ways, with India equally delivering impressive performances against Australia during this time. “I’ve had my fair share of good innings against India recently, but they’ve also beaten us at times. I definitely feel a connection with their fans,” he remarked.
Currently, in the IPL 2025 season, Head is continuing his strong form. He ranks as the fifth-highest run-scorer, with 136 runs from three matches, averaging 45 with an impressive strike rate of 191.54. He started the season with a stunning 67 runs off just 31 balls against the Rajasthan Royals, followed by a solid 47 runs from 28 balls against the Lucknow Super Giants. As he prepares for the upcoming match against KKR, Head aims to keep building on his solid performances to help his team secure a win.
