In response, New Zealand achieved the target in just ten overs, with Tim Seifert playing a remarkable innings of 97 not out off 38 balls.
This victory allowed New Zealand to secure a 4-1 series win over Pakistan. The Kiwis got off to an explosive start, with Seifert hitting two sixes and a four in the first over bowled by Jahandad Khan. His partner, Finn Allen, also showcased his aggressive style, hitting Mohammad Ali for 14 runs. Together, they reached the team’s first fifty in a mere 21 balls.
Seifert continued his impressive performance, smashing Jahandad Khan for 25 runs in the sixth over and reaching his fifty in just 23 balls. Pakistan finally took their first wicket when Sufiyan Muqeem bowled out Finn Allen for 27 runs off 12 balls. They also managed to dismiss Mark Chapman, thanks to a sharp stumping by Mohammad Haris. Despite the early wickets, Seifert maintained his momentum, finishing the match with six fours and ten sixes.
Earlier, Pakistan’s opener Hasan Nawaz once again fell for a duck, caught in the slips during the second over. His opening partner, Mohammad Haris, also struggled, scoring only 11 runs, leaving Pakistan in a tough spot at 23 for 2 after just under five overs. Captain Salman Agha attempted to stabilize the innings but faced difficulties as wickets continued to fall around him.
James Neesham was a standout performer for New Zealand, taking five wickets for just 22 runs in four overs, leaving Pakistan in dire straits at 52 for 5 after 10.2 overs. With a 54-run partnership between Salman and Shadab Khan, Pakistan managed to steady the ship slightly but fell short. Neesham eventually took down crucial batsmen, including Salman, who scored 51 runs off 39 balls.
Pakistan could only muster 128 runs in their innings. Neesham’s exceptional bowling earned him the Player of the Match award, while Seifert’s overall brilliance in the series garnered him the Player of the Series title after scoring a total of 249 runs in five matches.
