Houthi Rebels Strike Again at U.S. Warships Amid Ongoing Tensions
Sanaa: The Houthi rebels in Yemen announced on Tuesday that they have launched their third attack on American warships in just 48 hours. This increase in aggression comes after a series of U.S. airstrikes against the Iran-backed group, which has sparked significant protests in regions under Houthi control.
The Houthis also expressed their strong condemnation of Israel’s military actions in Gaza. According to the health ministry in the region controlled by Hamas, these attacks have resulted in over 400 fatalities. In response, the rebels pledged to intensify their operations in support of their ally, Hamas.
The Houthis have a history of targeting vessels in the Red Sea, particularly since the onset of the Gaza conflict, which continued until a ceasefire in January. Recently, they issued warnings about resuming attacks on Israeli shipping routes due to Israel’s blockade on humanitarian aid to the Palestinian territories. This threat prompted the first U.S. military strikes on Yemen since President Donald Trump took office in January.
