Veteran actor Deb Mukherjee has passed away at the age of 83 due to health issues related to aging. The sad news was shared by his spokesperson. He was a prominent figure in the esteemed Samarth-Mukherjee family, being the father of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji and the father-in-law of director Ashutosh Gowariker.

Deb Mukherjee’s funeral is set to take place at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu on March 14 at 4 pm. Many family members, including notable personalities like Kajol, Ajay Devgn, Rani Mukerji, Tanuja, and Aditya Chopra, are expected to attend. Friends from the film industry, including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Hrithik Roshan, Sidharth Malhotra, Deepika Padukone, and Ranveer Singh, will also likely be present to pay their respects.

Born in Kanpur in 1941, Deb Mukherjee hailed from a celebrated family in the film industry. His mother, Satidevi, was the sister of famous actors Ashok Kumar, Anup Kumar, and Kishore Kumar. He also had actor Joy Mukherjee and filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee as his brothers, with Shomu’s wife being actress Tanuja. Deb was the uncle of well-known actresses Kajol and Rani Mukerji. He experienced two marriages; his daughter Sunita, from his first marriage, is married to Ashutosh Gowariker, while his son Ayan is from his second marriage.

Deb Mukherjee began his acting career in the 1960s with small roles in movies like “Tu Hi Meri Zindagi” and “Abhinetri.” He gained more recognition with roles in films such as “Do Aankhen” and “Baton Baton Mein.” As his career progressed, he shifted to supporting roles in popular films like “Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar” and “King Uncle.” His last appearance on screen was a cameo in Vishal Bhardwaj’s film “Kaminey” in 2009.

His passing is a significant loss to the film industry, leaving behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.
