India’s cricket captain, Rohit Sharma, has shared that he is not currently thinking about the 2027 ODI World Cup. After India’s impressive win in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, there were speculations that he might retire from the 50-over format. However, Rohit addressed these rumors clearly during the post-match press conference, stating he is not retiring from ODI cricket.

Rohit said, “At this moment, I am focused on the present. It’s not the right time for me to think about the future or make any predictions about the 2027 World Cup. I always prefer to take things one step at a time and enjoy the game I love. Right now, my priority is to perform well and support my teammates. That’s what really matters.”

In the recent final, Rohit led his team brilliantly, scoring a vital 76 runs off 83 balls, with seven fours and three sixes. He partnered with Shubman Gill to set a solid foundation for the team’s chase of 252 runs, putting together a 105-run opening stand. Rohit’s half-century was his first of the tournament and he managed to put pressure on the New Zealand team right from the start.

After Rohit’s innings, Shreyas Iyer, who scored 48 runs off 62 balls, and Axar Patel, who contributed 29 runs off 40 balls, worked together to stabilize the innings. Despite losing their wickets, KL Rahul (who finished on 34 not out off 33 balls), Hardik Pandya (18 off 18), and Ravindra Jadeja (9 off 6) helped guide India to a successful win in just 49 overs.

Rohit Sharma’s leadership and performance continue to inspire his teammates, and for now, he remains committed to enjoying his cricket journey.
