Salman Khan’s collaboration with director Atlee has been a hot topic in the Indian film industry. After several ups and downs, it seems that the project is currently on hold. Reports suggest that the main issue isn’t about the producers being unwilling to invest in Salman Khan, but rather complications with casting.
Sources indicate that renowned actor Rajinikanth turned down the opportunity to join the project due to schedule conflicts. His involvement could have significantly increased the film’s potential, especially financially. While the initial deal for Salman and Atlee’s project was estimated at Rs. 200 crores for non-theatrical rights, having Rajinikanth involved could have boosted it to Rs. 275 crores. This would greatly reduce the financial risk associated with the film’s budget of Rs. 650 crores.
Recently, Atlee met Salman to discuss the situation. He shared the challenges they faced, and Salman was understanding, expressing his willingness to wait an additional year to collaborate with Atlee in 2026. Recognizing that the project needed another star to succeed and respecting Atlee’s decision to focus on a different film first, Salman seemed supportive throughout their discussion. Atlee apologized for the delays and promised he would return to work with Salman next year.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both stars embracing each other. Salman even congratulated Atlee on his upcoming project with Allu Arjun and shared his admiration for the actor known for his role in “Pushpa.” He reassured Atlee that delays are simply part of the film industry.
As for Salman, he’s now keeping an eye out for new projects following his work in “Sikandar.”
