Jos Buttler Comments on India’s Venue Advantage in ICC Champions Trophy 2025

England’s captain, Jos Buttler, has made a subtle remark about India’s unique situation in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. With India playing all their matches at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Buttler noted that this gives them an edge, especially as the pitches seem to favor their strong spin attack. This arrangement comes after India decided not to travel to Pakistan, the official host of the tournament.

When asked about India’s advantage during a recent press conference, Buttler described the scenario as a "unique tournament" due to one team playing in a different location from the official host. However, he emphasized that he is not overly concerned about it and is focused solely on their upcoming match against Afghanistan.

"But that’s not something I’m sort of worried too much about at the moment," Buttler explained. "I’ve got all my focus on preparing well for tonight and our game tomorrow," he added as he looked ahead to the match.

India’s spinners have shown impressive form so far in the tournament. In their matches, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel each took three wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja added one. On the other hand, England’s Mohammad Shami leads the wicket-takers chart with five wickets, followed closely by Harshit Rana with four and Hardik Pandya with two.

The Indian team has already secured a spot in the semi-finals, thanks to decisive wins against Bangladesh and Pakistan. Their next challenge is against New Zealand on March 2, and if they qualify, they will also play the semi-final on March 4 in Dubai, with the final set to take place at the same venue.

On the flip side, England faces a crucial match against Afghanistan after suffering a loss to Australia in their first game. The team, led by Hashmatullah Shahidi, previously caused an upset by defeating England during the ODI World Cup 2023, and they are eager to replicate that success in the upcoming match.
