Actor and producer Sohum Shah had a remarkable year in 2024, highlighted by the successful re-release of his 2018 horror thriller, Tumbbad. The film’s return to theaters gained a fantastic audience response, reaffirming the team’s confidence in its quality. Building on this momentum, Sohum and his team are excited to announce Tumbbad 2, which is set to deliver another thrilling experience to viewers.
In addition to this, Sohum recently shared great news for horror fans: he has acquired the rights to several classic horror films from the 80s and 90s created by the famous Ramsay Brothers. He mentioned, "I have taken the rights to their films Veerana, Purani Haveli, and Purana Mandir. I believe we can explore more in this genre, and it makes sense from a business perspective."
Sohum expressed his thoughts on the current trend in horror films, noting that many recent productions focus on horror comedies. He stated, "As a writer, there’s a lot you can do with pure horror. Audiences are looking for unique stories and are ready for genuine horror. There’s a vast audience out there craving pure horror content."
When asked about joining the trend of creating a cinematic universe, he remarked, "We’ll see how that develops, but Tumbbad already feels like a whole universe. When we created it back in 2017, we envisioned possibilities for prequels, sequels, and character backstories. We definitely see that potential moving forward."
Sohum’s upcoming projects include Tumbbad 2, which aims to continue the beloved story, and a new film titled Crazxy, scheduled for release on March 7, 2025. The motion poster for Crazxy has already garnered excitement among fans, who are eagerly awaiting the next chapter of Sohum’s filmmaking journey.
