In the grand arena of cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has bestowed its judgment upon the pitch for the inaugural Test match between Pakistan and England, deeming it ‘satisfactory’. England, with a display of sheer dominance, triumphed over Pakistan by a staggering innings and 47 runs, amassing a colossal total of 823 runs for the loss of just seven wickets before declaring.

Harry Brook emerged as the beacon of brilliance, claiming the Player of the Match accolade with an extraordinary innings of 317 runs off just 322 balls. Not to be outshone, Joe Root unleashed a barrage against the Pakistani bowlers, crafting a relentless 262 runs. In response, England’s bowlers dismantled the Pakistani batting lineup, skittling them out for 220 runs in 54.5 overs, with Jack Leach emerging as the architect of calamity, snaring four wickets in the process.

As the cricketing saga unfolded, the ICC assessed the pitch for the second Test, classifying it as ‘average’. The same track that hosted the initial clash served as the battleground for the second encounter, where Pakistan orchestrated a remarkable resurgence, leveling the series with a resounding victory by 152 runs. They further cemented their dominance by clinching the third and final Test match by a margin of nine wickets.

For the third chapter, staged at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the ICC once again rated the pitch a ‘satisfactory’ playing surface. With this, Pakistan seized the opportunity to win the Test by nine wickets, thereby securing the series with a final tally of 2-1—an impressive feat marking their first series victory on home soil in over three and a half years.

Notably, the spin duo of Sajid Khan and Noman Ali, absent from the first Test, transformed Pakistan’s fortunes upon their introduction in the second Test. Collectively, they claimed an astonishing 39 out of the 40 wickets that tumbled across the concluding two matches, displaying a mastery of the craft that left the opposition in disarray.

Shan Masood, who had faced an uphill battle as Pakistan’s captain with six consecutive losses, found redemption and reclaimed his stature through this exhilarating series against England.
