In a bold stride towards enhancing cyber security awareness and battling the surging wave of cybercrimes, the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Home Affairs, has named the beloved actress Rashmika Mandanna as the ‘National Ambassador for Promoting Cyber Safety.’ With this role, Rashmika is set to helm an extensive nationwide initiative designed to enlighten the public on a plethora of cyber threats, encompassing online fraud, the disturbing phenomenon of deepfake videos, cyberbullying, and malicious AI-generated content.

Rashmika, who has found herself embroiled in the gritty realities of cybercrime firsthand, articulated her commitment to this pivotal mission. “Cybercrime is a malignant and all-encompassing threat, casting a wide net over individuals, businesses, and communities across the globe. Having personally felt its chilling effects, I am resolutely committed to raising awareness and advocating for the vital message of cyber safety,” she expressed passionately. “It is imperative that we unite to face these perils and safeguard our digital realms.”

Indeed, the actress’s urgency is underscored by her own harrowing experience—a deepfake video that circulated online, prompting her to confront these issues publicly. On October 15, she took to her social media platform to voice her concerns, stating, “We exist in a digitally dominated epoch, and cybercrime has reached unprecedented levels. Given my experiences, I advocate for more stringent measures to shield our online spaces.” She called on her followers to rally with her in this new campaign, emphasizing, “Let’s forge a collective front to cultivate a safer cyberspace for ourselves and for future generations. My ambition is to spread awareness and shield as many of you as possible from the clutches of cybercrime, as I embrace my role as brand ambassador for I4C.”

Rashmika’s appointment is especially timely, as the landscape of cyber threats morphs at an alarming pace. With fresh digital dangers surfacing daily, the Ministry of Home Affairs is optimistic that Rashmika’s star power and unwavering dedication to this cause will play a crucial role in the national crusade against cybercrime. This collaboration aims to foster a more secure digital environment for every citizen, paving the way for a future where online safety is not just an aspiration, but a fundamental reality.
