Shreyas Talpade Drawn into ₹100 Crore Ponzi Scheme in Uttar Pradesh: FIR Registered

Shreyas Talpade, along with 14 other individuals, has been named in a significant fraud case in Mahoba district, Uttar Pradesh. The accusations derive from a deceitful chit fund scheme that allegedly tricked local villagers out of large sums of money.

The group is reportedly linked to ‘The Loni Urban Multistate Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society Limited,’ which had lured rural investors with the promise of high returns on their investments. Agents of this organization assured villagers that their money would double within a short time. Unfortunately, after collecting substantial amounts from these unsuspecting investors, the company suddenly halted its operations and its representatives vanished without a trace.

The fraudulent practices appear to have been continuing in Mahoba for nearly ten years before finally drawing the attention of the legal system. Authorities have filed a case at the Srinagar police station and have begun an investigation to uncover the full details of the scam. The next steps will be based on the results of this inquiry.

This situation adds to the ongoing legal challenges for Talpade. Earlier this year, an FIR was lodged against him and veteran actor Alok Nath for allegedly scamming investors out of over ₹9 crore in another case. This complaint was filed at the Gomti Nagar Police Station in Lucknow. Additionally, both actors, along with others, were involved in a multi-level marketing scheme in Sonipat, Haryana.

The Loni Urban Multi-State Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society has previously faced scrutiny for similar fraudulent activities across different regions. In Uttarakhand, the society was reported to have operated 35 unauthorized branches and deceived investors out of nearly ₹92 crore by promising unrealistic returns. The Uttarakhand Police have since arrested five individuals connected to this scheme.

As the investigations progress, authorities are committed to seeking justice for the victims and revealing the full scope of these fraudulent operations.
