Intruder Neutralized at Indo-Pak Border: BSF Reports

In a recent incident, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully dealt with an intruder along the International Border (IB) on Wednesday. The BSF reported detecting suspicious movement in the BOP Tashpatan area near Pathankot. The intruder was challenged by alert BSF personnel but continued advancing, prompting them to take action.

The BSF stated, "At dawn, our troops noticed unusual activity at the IB. When confronted, the intruder ignored our warnings and kept moving. Assessing the situation as a threat, our forces neutralized the individual." Authorities are currently working to determine the intruder’s identity and intention.

The BSF emphasized their commitment to preventing infiltration attempts and indicated that a strong protest would be lodged with the Pakistan Rangers regarding this incident.

This event follows a recent escalation in border tensions, where the Indian Army responded to firing from Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch sector around 11 am the previous day. There have been several confrontations in the region, including one on February 8 when terrorists targeted an Indian patrol from within Pakistani territory, leading to retaliatory fire from Indian soldiers.

Additionally, in early February, a landmine exploded in the Krishna Ghati sector during an operation against terrorists trying to cross the LoC, resulting in casualties among them. The security landscape in Jammu and Kashmir had seen an increase in terrorist activities last year, prompting intensified responses from security forces. Over 30 terrorists were reportedly eliminated before the onset of winter, and the period also saw 25 fatalities among security forces—19 in Jammu and six in Kashmir.
