Abhishek Sharma recently had the chance to meet cricket legend Wasim Akram during the highly anticipated Champions Trophy match between India and Pakistan, held on February 23 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Among the celebrity attendees were Abhishek, Suryakumar Yadav, Rajeev Shukla, and ICC chairman Jay Shah, all gathered to enjoy this thrilling contest.

In the commentary box, Akram joined a star-studded panel that featured notable names like Sunil Gavaskar, Aaron Finch, Matthew Hayden, Ramiz Raja, Michael Atherton, Mpumelelo Mbangwa, Kass Naidoo, and Simon Doull.

The former Pakistan fast bowler took a moment to commend Abhishek for his stunning century against England earlier this month at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Akram shared encouraging words, urging the young cricketer to maintain his focus and hard work as he builds his career. “That was a lovely innings, and I watched it. Keep it up! This is just the start. You still have a long way to go. Stay focused and keep performing. Good luck!” Akram remarked in a video that quickly gained traction online.

Abhishek Sharma made headlines with his explosive performance in Mumbai, where he scored India’s second-fastest T20I century in just 37 balls. He dominated the English bowlers, showcasing his talent on a pitch that favored batting. The left-handed batsman also made his mark by reaching a fifty in just 17 balls—a remarkable achievement.

Earlier, in July 2024, the 24-year-old gathered attention with his first T20I hundred against Zimbabwe. His strong showings in the Indian Premier League with the Sunrisers Hyderabad helped secure his spot on the national team.

In the exciting match on Sunday, India emerged victorious against Pakistan by six wickets, with Virat Kohli achieving his 51st ODI century. Chasing a target of 242, the Indian team finished strongly, reaching their goal with 45 balls to spare. Shreyas Iyer also contributed to the win with a half-century, while Shubman Gill added valuable runs to the team’s total.
