Exciting Matches Ahead on Day 8 of the Australian Open 2024
Day 8 of the Australian Open 2024 promises thrilling tennis as some of the sport’s biggest names take to the courts. Aryna Sabalenka, Novak Djokovic, Coco Gauff, Carlos Alcaraz, and Rohan Bopanna are all set to showcase their skills at Melbourne Park.
Aryna Sabalenka aims for her third consecutive title in Melbourne and has a compelling match lined up against rising star Mirra Andreeva at the Rod Laver Arena. Fans will remember that in June last year, Andreeva shocked Sabalenka by knocking her out of the French Open in the quarterfinals. However, Sabalenka bounced back to defeat Andreeva at the semi-finals of the Brisbane International.
Next up, the 2023 US Open champion Coco Gauff will face Belinda Bencic. Bencic is riding high after receiving a walkover in the third round due to Naomi Osaka’s injury.
On the Centre Court, Carlos Alcaraz will meet Jack Draper in what promises to be an exciting encounter, followed by the formidable Novak Djokovic, who will compete against 24th seed Jiri Lehechka.
At the Margaret Court Arena, Paula Badosa is on a quest for her first quarterfinal appearance at the Australian Open, going up against Olga Danilovic, who is feeling confident after defeating Jessica Pegula. The last year’s doubles finalists, Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori, will also be in action.
The last match at the John Cain Arena will feature No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev taking on France’s Ugo Humbert. After exiting the singles tournament, Paolini will team up with her fellow Italian Sara Errani for their women’s doubles match.
Meanwhile, India’s Rohan Bopanna will be competing in mixed doubles with partner Shuai Zhang from China, facing off against USA’s Taylor Townsend and Monaco’s Hugo Nys in the second round.
Stay tuned for an action-packed Day 8 at the Australian Open 2024!
