Hyderabad: The Central Government, in partnership with the state of Telangana, is preparing to host the eighth edition of the ‘Khelo India Youth Games’ this December. Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, shared this information in a recent press statement, expressing his excitement about Telangana being chosen for this significant sporting event.
Reddy announced that the Union Government has allocated ₹22 crore for the successful execution of the Games. He mentioned that the competitions will take place across four cities: Hyderabad, Warangal, Karimnagar, and Mahbubnagar. Approximately 6,000 athletes are expected to compete in various sports.
Additionally, Kishan Reddy noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address young athletes through a virtual platform under the theme ‘Khel Ki Baat, PM Ke Saath’ on Thursday, just before National Sports Day, which is celebrated on August 29.
The Games will be organized with the support of several bodies, including the state government, the Sports Authority of India, various national sports federations, the School Games Federation of India, the Central Board of Secondary Education, and the Khelo India Steering Committee, among others.
