Google is celebrating India’s 80th Independence Day with a colorful Doodle that highlights the country’s rich culture through 22 unique textile traditions. This eye-catching art was created by Namrata Kumar, a talented graphic designer from New Delhi, who originally designed it for the 77th Independence Day in 2023. The Doodle features a beautiful digital patchwork of handmade fabrics, showcasing the hard work of weavers, dyers, growers, and printers from all over India.

The illustration celebrates various historic textile styles, including Jamdani, a fine muslin fabric with intricate geometric and floral designs, as well as Ikat and Ajrakh, both characterized by resist-dye techniques. Other notable textiles featured are the luxurious Benarasi Brocade, crafted with gold and silver threads.
