Jannik Sinner Sparks Concern with Injury Withdrawal from Cincinnati Masters Ahead of US Open

Jannik Sinner Withdraws from Cincinnati Masters Due to Knee Injury

Jannik Sinner’s plans for the US Open have hit a snag after he announced that he will not compete in the Cincinnati Masters because of a right knee injury. This decision, just weeks before the last Grand Slam of the year, raises questions about whether the world No. 1 will be fully fit when he heads to New York.

Sinner has had an impressive season so far, having recently defended his Wimbledon title by defeating Alexander Zverev in the final, marking his fifth Grand Slam victory. His performance on the ATP Tour has made his fitness a top priority as the US Open approaches.

“I regret to share that I must withdraw from the Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati after consulting with my doctors and team,” Sinner said in a statement on the ATP website. “My right knee has been troubling me, and despite our efforts, I’m not yet ready to compete.”

Concerns about Sinner’s knee increased after he spent nearly four hours undergoing medical assessments at a specialist clinic in Milan, which led to speculation about the severity of the issue.

Alcaraz Also Faces Injury Woes

Sinner isn’t the only major player worrying fans with injury concerns. Carlos Alcaraz has also pulled out of the Cincinnati Masters as he continues to recover from a persistent right wrist injury. The Spanish star hasn’t played since April, when he got hurt at the Barcelona Open. His injury has kept him from participating in several major tournaments, including the Italian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon.

Alcaraz had hoped to make a comeback in Cincinnati, but his recent withdrawal puts his defense of the US Open title in question. While he remains on the entry list for the tournament, the lack of match experience raises significant concerns about his readiness.

The timing is particularly challenging for Alcaraz, who claimed victory at the US Open last year, defeating Sinner in a thrilling final. Sinner’s exit from Cincinnati means he will have limited match practice before heading to the year’s final Grand Slam, while Alcaraz battles uncertainty over his availability.

With both stars dealing with injuries, fans are left hoping for quick recoveries for Sinner and Alcaraz, paving the way for another exciting chapter in their rivalry at the US Open.
