Thousands of Young Protesters Rally in New Delhi Amid Growing Tensions

NEW DELHI (AP) — On Thursday, thousands of young protesters remained on the streets of India’s capital, New Delhi, standing firm against new restrictions as part of a movement challenging Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

The protests, known as the “Cockroach” protests, began over a month ago in response to claims of unfair practices in some of the country’s toughest entrance exams for medical schools and government positions. Initially centered around these issues, the protests have since broadened to include a wider range of frustrations from professionals and families alike.

As the unrest continues, the atmosphere in New Delhi remains charged, with many demanding accountability and change from the government. The growing number of participants highlights the movement’s significant reach and the deep-rooted concerns resonating with Indians across various sectors.
