Samsung Moves Up Chip Factory Timeline in Yongin
SEOUL, July 13 (Reuters) – Samsung Electronics has decided to speed up the opening of its new chip manufacturing facility in Yongin, located south of Seoul. The company now plans to launch operations in 2029, instead of the previously expected 2030-2031 timeframe. This adjustment comes as demand for memory chips, especially those needed for artificial intelligence, continues to grow rapidly.
Samsung has not yet responded to requests for comments on this news. The change in plans was first reported by Yonhap News Agency on Sunday.
