Weather Update: Monsoon Patterns Shift Across India
Bengaluru, July 13, 2026 — The recent monsoon has seen a notable change, with the rainfall deficit across India dropping from 40% in June to 15% this July. However, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that rainfall will temporarily pause over many areas, including parts of southern, northwestern, and central India.
Looking ahead, a new cyclonic system is expected to develop over the northern Bay of Bengal and nearby Bangladesh around July 14. This might lead to increased rainfall in Eastern and Northeastern India during the upcoming week. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of the IMD, noted that the effects of this system will primarily be felt in these regions.
On Sunday, Meghalaya experienced heavy downpours, with forecasts indicating that Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, and Mizoram could also see similar intense rainfall until Wednesday.
Stay safe and updated as the weather changes across the country.
