Jewellery Heist at Lalique Museum in France
STRASBOURG, France — A significant theft occurred at the Lalique museum, famous for its luxury glasswork, over the weekend. Millions of euros worth of jewellery were taken during a break-in early Sunday morning.
The break-in happened around 5:30 AM local time in Wingen-sur-Moder, located in northeastern France. According to sources familiar with the investigation, the burglars went directly to the jewellery room.
Approximately twenty pieces of jewellery were reported stolen, with initial estimates suggesting the total value could reach up to four million euros. The museum announced on its website that it would be closed for several days due to the incident.
An alarm was triggered during the burglary, but by the time the security company arrived, a cleaning lady was the first to notice something was wrong and subsequently called the police.
