Update on Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace
Salman Khan Films has responded to rumors suggesting that its new war drama, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace, is facing issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film production company issued a statement on social media calling these claims “false” and clarified that the movie has not yet been submitted for certification.
This clarification comes after reports indicated that CBFC had delayed the film’s clearance, leading to concerns about its theatrical release date. On July 4, the production house took to its official social media channels to address the situation.
The statement read, “Any claims suggesting that Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace has issues with the CBFC or that its certification is on hold are false. The film has not yet been submitted for certification, so these reports are entirely baseless. We ask everyone to refrain from spreading unverified information. Any official updates will be provided through our channels.”
Though the production company did not mention when the film would be submitted for certification, there had been speculation regarding its release timeline. An earlier report claimed that the CBFC had withheld certification, creating uncertainty over the film’s planned release.
Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace, previously known as Battle of Galwan, draws inspiration from the 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in Galwan Valley. The film was set to release on April 17, ahead of Eid, but was postponed. There are indications that the filmmakers are now targeting an August release around Independence Day weekend.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salma Khan under the Salman Khan Films banner, the movie stars Salman Khan in the role of Colonel Santosh Babu, who led Indian troops during the Galwan Valley confrontation. The cast includes Chitrangda Singh, Abhilash Chaudhary, and Ankur Bhatia, with music composed by Himesh Reshammiya.
As of now, fans and observers await further announcements regarding the film’s release.
