Indian Ambassador Strengthens Ties with Moldova

BUCHAREST: Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, India’s Ambassador to Romania and the Republic of Moldova, recently visited Moldova to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including politics, economy, and culture. His visit involved meetings with members of the Moldova-India Parliamentary Friendship Group and local officials in the cities of Bălți, Orhei, and Soroca.

Engaging with Lawmakers

Ambassador Mohapatra met with the Moldova-India Parliamentary Friendship Group at the Parliament of Moldova. This meeting was led by Mr. Igor Dodon, Chairman of the group, along with Mrs. Inga Ionesii, the incoming Ambassador of Moldova to India. They discussed the current state of India-Moldova relations and explored ways to improve political communication and cooperation between the two countries.

The emphasis was on increasing exchanges between lawmakers to build a stronger partnership, which can lead to better understanding and sharing of legislative practices.

Discussions in Bălți

In Bălți, the Ambassador met Mayor Alexandr Petkov. Their conversation focused on local economic growth, investment, and cultural exchanges. They also looked into opportunities for Indian businesses in Moldova’s northern region.

Recognizing the significance of local diplomacy, they talked about how municipalities can boost trade and cultural relations, paving the way for closer ties between India and Moldova at the grassroots level.

Meeting in Orhei

While in Orhei, Ambassador Mohapatra discussed development projects and investment prospects with Mayor Ramiz Ansarov. Both leaders shared ideas on enhancing cultural and community interactions. Their dialogue highlighted the importance of city partnerships to strengthen bilateral relations through collaboration in urban development and cultural initiatives.

Visit to Soroca

In Soroca, the Ambassador met with Mayor Lilia Pilipețchi to explore cooperation in infrastructure, tourism, and cultural activities. This engagement aimed to bolster local ties and create new avenues for economic collaboration.

The Ambassador’s visit underscored India’s commitment to deepening its relationships with Moldova through enhanced political dialogue and local government partnerships. These engagements pave the way for future cooperation and mutual benefits for both nations.
