Google Wins Patent Dispute Over Ad Funding Model
Google LLC has successfully defended its advertising methods in a recent tribunal decision. The Patent Trial and Appeal Board determined that Google’s practices on its Ad and AdSense platforms do not violate a patent held by BrodTi Inc.
In its ruling on Tuesday, the board found that several claims from BrodTi’s US Patent No. 11,416,898 were unpatentable. They concluded that the technology was too similar to earlier innovations, making it obvious to those skilled in the field.
BrodTi initially filed a lawsuit against Google in 2024, claiming that its patent, which focuses on a new funding model for advertising that reduces the need for traditional fundraising, had been infringed upon by Google’s services. However, the legal proceedings related to this case are currently on hold.
