Union Minister Addresses Claims of Chinese Occupation in Arunachal Pradesh

New Delhi: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has firmly dismissed concerns raised by a tribal organization from Arunachal Pradesh regarding alleged Chinese army occupation of their land. He stated there is no actual “intrusion” into Indian territory, though he acknowledged that both India and China occasionally experience border transgressions due to undefined borders.

Rijiju explained, “There is no intrusion. Transgressions happen from both sides because we don’t have a clear demarcation.” As the Lok Sabha MP for Arunachal West, he expressed disappointment with the previous central governments for not advancing infrastructure development in the state, which is the largest in the Northeast.

The issue gained attention after the tribal group claimed that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army had taken over parts of their traditional grazing, hunting, and farming lands in the Upper Subansiri district over the past six years. This situation has led to calls for official investigations to verify the claims. Rijiju assured that the current government under Prime Minister Modi is focused on improving infrastructure in the border regions.
