Explosion in Monaco Leaves Several Injured
Authorities in Monaco and France are currently searching for a man believed to be responsible for a recent explosion that injured multiple people, including two who are in critical condition. The blast occurred just before 9 p.m. local time in Monaco’s downtown area, close to the entrance of a residential building.
According to reports, surveillance footage showed a man leaving a backpack at the scene shortly before the explosion. The device is described as a “parcel bomb,” as shared by Monaco’s prosecutor general.
Monaco’s Minister of State, Christophe Mirmand, confirmed that this is the first incident of its kind in the principality. He expressed concern, stating that two of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries. French emergency teams were dispatched to help at the scene.
In a coordinated effort, authorities from both Monaco and France are working together to locate the suspect. Eric Ciotti, the mayor of Nice, condemned the incident in a social media post, emphasizing his support for the victims and gratitude for the emergency responders.
Alexandra Masson, the mayor of Menton, also expressed her condolences for those affected and extended support to Monaco during this difficult time.
As of now, Monaco police have not released further information and are continuing their search for the suspect involved in this alarming incident.
