Jungle Fever Takes Hold: Supergirl Screenings Postponed as Theaters Favor Akshay Kumar’s Comedy

This week marks an exciting cinematic event with the much-anticipated release of Welcome To The Jungle and the Hollywood superhero film Supergirl, both set to hit theaters on Friday, June 26. However, as of the evening of June 24, ticket bookings for Supergirl have not yet started.

According to industry insiders, there is a buzz of anticipation surrounding Welcome To The Jungle, and its distributor is pushing for significant promotional efforts. This has led theaters to focus on this Indian film, putting Supergirl at a disadvantage when it comes to getting enough showtimes.

Supergirl’s distributor, Warner Bros, has requested what they believe to be reasonable showtimes: two prime slots in four-screen multiplexes and three in larger multiplexes. However, they are struggling to secure these slots. Ongoing negotiations aim to resolve this issue by Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

As of the latest updates, ticket sales for Supergirl have only begun at Devgn CineX in The Walk, located in the Mumbai area. Some smaller cinema chains in other cities are starting to schedule showings, but major national chains like PVR Inox and Cinepolis have yet to open bookings in Northern, Eastern, or Western India.

Warner Bros expresses confidence that their request is fair, especially given their willingness to release films during the pandemic when many local filmmakers held back. They hope for a swift resolution that will allow Supergirl to receive its due share of showings across theaters.

It looks like the next few days will be crucial for both films as they vie for audience attention in theaters.
