US Military Engages in Caribbean Strike, Taking Out 2 Suspects Linked to Drug Trafficking

US Military Strikes Vessel in Caribbean, Two Killed

On Sunday, the U.S. military announced a targeted strike on a ship in the Caribbean believed to be involved in drug trafficking. This action reportedly resulted in the deaths of two individuals.

According to the U.S. Southern Command, the strike was ordered by General Francis L. Donovan of the Marine Corps. The military provided intelligence indicating the vessel was maneuvering in known areas for drug trafficking and actively engaging in such operations.

There were also six male survivors on board the vessel when the strike occurred. Following the incident, the Southern Command quickly informed the U.S. Coast Guard to initiate a search and rescue operation for the survivors.

This strike is part of a broader campaign by the Trump administration aimed at dismantling alleged drug trafficking networks. Since September, more than 200 individuals have reportedly died in similar military operations.

The Pentagon has not disclosed the identities of the deceased or provided evidence of drugs being present on the vessel. These military actions have drawn criticism from some lawmakers, including Senator Rand Paul, who expressed concerns over the lack of due process and the risk of innocent casualties.

Paul questioned the moral stance of his colleagues who claim to support life but do not seem to care about the individuals affected by these strikes, suggesting that many of them might be impoverished individuals from countries like Venezuela and Colombia.

Human rights organizations have also condemned these strikes, labeling them as “extrajudicial killings.”
