Fibocom Unveils Innovative FG550-EAU 5G Module at MWC Shanghai 2026
SHENZHEN, China – June 22, 2026 – At the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai, Fibocom introduced its new FG550-EAU 5G module, powered by Samsung’s Exynos Modem platform. This latest module features a significant RAM optimization, reducing its capacity from 8Gb to 4Gb. This change streamlines memory use while still providing necessary business functionalities and customization options for customers.
As the demand for AI servers and data centers continues to rise, the challenges of memory availability and pricing have become crucial for the commercialization of 5G devices. This latest optimization aims to control costs and ensure reliable delivery during mass production, allowing clients to lower their terminal bills of materials (BOM), strengthen supply chain efficiency, and enhance deployment stability.
Fibocom achieved this optimization by reviewing low-level code, enhancing memory scheduling, and careful allocation of system resources. The result is a stable 4Gb configuration that maintains essential product features while improving resource use, user experience, and energy efficiency.
The FG550-EAU also supports advanced capabilities, including 3GPP Rel.16 and NR 5CC carrier aggregation. It is backward compatible with LTE Cat.20, ensuring seamless connectivity across major global networks for both 4G and 5G.
