U.S. President Signs Executive Order on Artificial Intelligence

On June 2, the White House announced that President Donald Trump has signed a new executive order focused on advancing artificial intelligence (AI) innovation while enhancing security measures.

The executive order instructs federal agencies to create cybersecurity standards that will apply to advanced AI models. This move aims to strengthen the overall cyber defense within the government.

Additionally, the order calls for the U.S. Treasury secretary to establish a dedicated AI “cybersecurity clearinghouse.” This initiative will work in partnership with the AI industry and operators of essential infrastructure. Its goal is to coordinate efforts in identifying software vulnerabilities, as well as to prioritize and manage the distribution of necessary updates and patches to fix these issues.

The steps outlined in the executive order reflect a growing focus on ensuring that AI technologies are developed with safety and security in mind.
