Paris: President Emmanuel Macron of France stated on Monday that he has urged U.S. President Donald Trump to continue his strong efforts to negotiate a ceasefire deal with Iran in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
In a phone conversation on Sunday night, Macron expressed his appreciation for Trump’s commitment to quickly reach an agreement between the United States and Iran. He described this as a valuable chance to create a new security framework that includes all relevant parties and aims for lasting stability in the region.
Iran has indicated that a ceasefire in Lebanon is a critical requirement for any agreement with the U.S. This comes as Israel’s military has taken control of a historic castle in southern Lebanon while increasing its ground operations against Hezbollah, a group supported by Iran.
Macron also praised Trump’s dedication to maintaining Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He emphasized the need for a strong ceasefire and the importance of collective international support for the Lebanese government.
