CENTCOM Announces Strikes on Iran in a Show of Self-Defense

Brief

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that it conducted self-defense strikes on Iranian targets over the weekend. These strikes targeted radar and command sites used for drones located in Goruk, Iran, and on Qeshm Island.

The action was taken on Saturday and Sunday in retaliation for recent Iranian activities, including the shooting down of a U.S. MQ-1 drone flying over international waters. U.S. fighter jets quickly responded by taking out Iranian air defenses and ground control stations, as well as two attack drones that posed threats to ships in the area.

Fortunately, no American service members were injured during these operations. CENTCOM has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding U.S. interests and assets in the region amid ongoing tensions with Iran.
