In recent weeks, Indian Consulates in the US have organized events aimed at reinforcing the partnership between the United States and India across various sectors.

Celebrating India-US Friendship in Albany, NY

On May 27, 2026, the Indian Consulate in New York, along with Indian American State Senator Jeremy A. Cooney, hosted a special event in Albany, the capital of New York State. This gathering brought together lawmakers and community leaders to honor the friendship, democracy, and shared values between the two nations.

Consul General of India in New York, Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, expressed his appreciation to attendees, including State Senators John C. Liu and Luis R. Sepulveda, as well as several assembly members. He highlighted the importance of the Indian community in New York and thanked Senator Cooney for supporting the resolution to declare August 15, 2026, as India Independence Day in New York State.

Senator Cooney remarked that the event was a chance to acknowledge the rich heritage of the Indian diaspora and ensure their voices are heard in the wider community. He pointed out the increasing presence of Indian Americans and other Asian communities throughout the state and beyond.

Expressing his own connections to the Indian community, Senator Liu reflected on his upbringing alongside Indian American friends, acknowledging both the struggles and successes shared by immigrants.

Houston’s Consulate Promotes Entrepreneurship
