Hungama Digital Media Entertainment and the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) recently held an event titled “Lights, Camera, Code: The New Storytelling Stack” at the IICT Campus in Mumbai. This event was part of the Mumbai Tech Week (MTW) 2026, which is a significant AI festival in the city, focusing on the theme “AI in Action.” MTW 2026 is scheduled for May 29-30 at the Jio World Convention Centre, featuring developers, founders, investors, policymakers, and students showcasing practical AI applications across various sectors.

During the event, Neeraj Roy, the Founder and CEO of Hungama, delivered a keynote speech discussing the future of storytelling by 2030. He emphasized the development of a creator ecosystem supported by AI, referring to it as a new “AI storytelling civilization.” He pointed out India’s advantages, such as its youthful population, rich culture, and increasing AI integration. Roy identified four key aspects of AI-driven storytelling: making every creator a studio with AI production tools, enabling languages to go global through real-time translation, transforming narratives into interactive experiences, and reinventing cultural intellectual property through AI.

Neeraj Roy expressed his views on the collaboration with IICT, stating, “Mumbai Tech Week is where innovation meets imagination. Our partnership with IICT for ‘Lights, Camera, Code’ stems from a belief that India’s future creators will be those who can leverage technology as skillfully as they tell stories. As AI and immersive media redefine entertainment, it’s critical for industry and academia to cultivate that talent together, and the time to start is now.”

Vishwas Deoskar, CEO of IICT, shared his insights, saying, “For years, India has been known for its storytelling through cinema, music, and culture. Now, we aim to export the technology and creative talent that will drive storytelling in the future. At IICT, we are creating an environment where artists, coders, designers, and entrepreneurs collaborate, understanding that the future of entertainment will belong to those who blend imagination with intelligence.”
