Yashasvi Jaiswal on the Brink of Breaking Tendulkar’s Record
Young Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal is close to surpassing a remarkable record set by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. This year, Jaiswal has been in outstanding form, amassing a total of 1280 runs in 12 matches (23 innings) with an impressive average of 58.18. His performance includes three centuries and seven fifties.
Currently, Jaiswal is only 282 runs short of Tendulkar’s record of 1562 runs, achieved in 2010 for the most runs by an Indian batter in a single calendar year. With three matches still remaining this year, Jaiswal’s current form indicates he has a solid chance of topping this impressive list.
In the ongoing five-match Test series against Australia, Jaiswal kicked off with a stellar performance, scoring 161 runs in his second innings after a rare first-innings duck. The 22-year-old demonstrated a cautious approach at the start but soon unleashed an impressive display of batting, hitting 15 fours and three sixes. He formed a strong partnership, contributing 201 runs alongside KL Rahul for the first wicket.
Jaiswal’s rise in international cricket has been rapid since his debut in July 2023, with a total of 1568 runs from 15 matches (28 innings), averaging 58.07 with four centuries and eight fifties. Notably, earlier this year, he became only the seventh player in cricket history to score back-to-back double hundreds in Test matches, achieving this against England with scores of 209 and 214 in respective matches.
Excitement surrounds the talented youngster as he aims to keep up his impressive performance in the remaining matches of the series, helping India pursue a third consecutive series victory in Australia.
