In the bustling heart of India, even the equipment that generates power needs a helping hand to endure the sweltering summer heat.

Near Nagpur, known as one of the hottest cities globally, engineers are busy inspecting transformers that now come equipped with large coolers and substations enhanced with fans. On this May morning, just a few weeks shy of the monsoon season, there’s good news. Thanks to these new additions, the power grid is managing to handle the high demand typical of this season, even as temperatures soar above 40°C (104°F). This comes during a significant energy crisis, leaving many concerned about possible power outages.
