Rajasthan Royals Secure Thrilling Win Over Lucknow Super Giants

In an electrifying encounter at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, the Rajasthan Royals triumphed over the Lucknow Super Giants by seven wickets. This victory was crucial for the Royals to keep their playoff hopes alive in IPL 2026.

The Royals needed a strong showing, and 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi delivered just that, dazzling the crowd with a stunning 93 runs off only 38 balls. This phenomenal performance turned the chase of 221 runs into a memorable highlight for the young player. Despite a season filled with ups and downs, Sooryavanshi’s brilliance has become a key factor in Rajasthan’s campaign.

Before the Royals’ chase began, Mitchell Marsh had set the stage for Lucknow with a powerful 96 runs from 57 balls, hitting 11 fours and five sixes. His efforts helped LSG set a formidable total of 220 runs for the loss of five wickets. Marsh is having quite a season, amassing 563 runs over 13 matches, proving to be a critical player for Lucknow.

Josh Inglis also contributed significantly to the LSG score, scoring 60 runs off 29 balls. The team raced to 109 runs within just nine overs, taking full advantage of Rajasthan’s struggle to contain the scoring in the Powerplay. Jofra Archer and the other bowlers faced difficulties early on, with only young leg-spinner Yash Raj Punja standing out by capturing two wickets for 35 runs.

As the Royals began their innings, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal looked determined, showcasing his skills after being overlooked for India’s ODI squad. He smashed 43 runs quickly, giving Rajasthan a great start. Sooryavanshi, usually known for his explosive batting, played it smart initially, focusing on rotating the strike while Jaiswal dominated the scoring.

However, as soon as Jaiswal was dismissed, Sooryavanshi kicked his game into high gear. His innings transformed from steady to sensational, as he celebrated reaching his half-century in just 23 balls. Despite the tricky pitch conditions, he launched the ball effortlessly into the stands and accelerated the score dramatically.

Sooryavanshi ultimately scored 93 runs, narrowly missing out on a century, but by then, the game was firmly in Rajasthan’s control. His performances this season have been extraordinary, consistently bringing his team back into contention when it looked bleak.

Dhruv Jurel finished the chase with an unbeaten 53 runs, ensuring a smooth win for Rajasthan, who completed the chase with five balls to spare. This win not only kept their playoff dreams alive but also saw them leapfrog the Punjab Kings in the standings, pushing them out of the top four for the first time this season.

As Rajasthan looks ahead to their final league game, they remain hopeful for qualification, while Lucknow’s Marsh, despite his excellence, faced yet another disappointing result.
