PM Modi Receives Warm Welcome from Indian Community in the Netherlands

The Hague, Netherlands—On May 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated a heartfelt reception from the Indian diaspora during his ongoing five-nation tour. He described the joyous welcome as “remarkable,” showcasing India’s rich cultural tapestry.

In a post on X, PM Modi shared how the event featured a dazzling array of classical Indian dance forms, including Kathak, Odissi, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Mohiniyattam. The atmosphere was further enlivened by a vibrant Garba performance, emphasizing the cultural diversity of India.

“Yesterday’s welcome by the Indian diaspora in the Netherlands was remarkable. The performance highlighted various classical dance forms, along with a lively Garba,” PM Modi stated in his post.

He later followed up with another message, sharing more moments from the celebration, providing a glimpse into the festive spirit of the event.

The Prime Minister arrived in Amsterdam on Friday, greeted by Rear Admiral Ludger Brummelaar, Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen, and Indian Ambassador Kumar Tuhin, among other senior officials.

In his earlier posts, PM Modi emphasized the significance of the visit. He pointed out that it coincides with the ongoing talks regarding the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, which promises to enhance trade and investment relations in sectors like semiconductors, clean energy, and more. He is scheduled to meet with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and will also meet with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima.

PM Modi’s five-nation tour runs from May 15 to 20, including a stop in the United Arab Emirates as part of the initial leg of his journey.
