Bowl-A-Thon Supports Kidney Health in Laredo
LAREDO, Texas – The DHR Health Transplant Institute recently participated in the Laredo Kidney Foundation’s Bowl-a-thon fundraiser, held at Jett Bowl North on May 5, 2026. The event, themed “Be a Hero for Kidney Health,” aimed to raise awareness about kidney disease, dialysis, organ donation, and the importance of early prevention.
“We are proud to participate in this event and support the patients and families it helps,” remarked Dr. Sridhar Allam, medical director of the DHR Health Transplant Institute. “Kidney disease affects many in South Texas, and gatherings like this create a sense of community for those dealing with these health issues.”
Since its establishment in 2017, the DHR Health Transplant Institute has been a vital resource for individuals in need of transplantation services, being the only facility of its kind located south of San Antonio and Houston. This allows local patients to access world-class care without traveling far.
The institute’s dedicated team, which includes physicians, surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, offers personalized support for kidney, liver, and pancreatic disorders, including kidney transplants. The DHR Health Transplant Institute is proudly certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), ensuring that patients receive the comprehensive care they need for a second chance at life.
