Kohli Struggles Again with Golden Duck Against Mumbai Indians

On the same day, Rohit Sharma also played in his 278th IPL match and managed to score a quick 22 runs before being bowled out by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. It’s worth noting that MS Dhoni has been absent this season due to a calf injury that occurred before the tournament started.
Kohli’s dismissal against Mumbai came from a risky shot. Chahar delivered a wide ball, and while Kohli aimed to send it over mid-off, he didn’t hit it cleanly, resulting in an easy catch for Bawa.
Kohli’s Rare Ducks in IPL History
This latest dismissal marked Kohli’s 12th duck in IPL history and his second in a row, with the last one happening on April 23, 2023, against the Rajasthan Royals. His previous golden duck in a run chase took place back in 2017 against the Kolkata Knight Riders, during a match where RCB found themselves dismissed for just 49 runs—a low point for the team.
Kohli also faced back-to-back ducks earlier in the IPL in 2022, showcasing that even the best players have rough patches. Despite these recent setbacks, Kohli’s performance throughout the 2026 season has been solid overall; he has accumulated 379 runs in just 10 matches and is on track for another season where he might surpass 600 runs, having achieved that feat in the past three seasons.
